This article draws from Dr. O’Faircheallaigh’s direct experience supporting negotiated agreements between indigenous communities and companies in Australia and Canada, reflecting on the role of women in negotiations, specific conditions of agreements that have promoted women’s benefits, as well as structures, frameworks, and legal contexts that can impact outcomes for women.
